A really positive first session of the season for the team!

BTCC Season 2025 – Donington Park Free Practice 1

Hello everybody and welcome to Donington Park in the East Midlands. As we arrived at the circuit early this morning it would definitely be accurate to describe the weather as dry, calm and cool! There was an easterly wind and I have to say that the weather forecast was correct. It was a beautiful sunrise but as we approached free practice 1, the clouds rolled in without a noticeable increase in the temperature.

Free practice 1 of any race weekend is about trying things and even more so when it is the first race session of the season. Both Charles and Aiden’s cars look amazing and there was that fantastic sense of new season, new car excitement as they pulled out onto the circuit. The first job was to scrub some tyres in and bed in the new brakes but unfortunately for Aiden, his throttle failed on his first lap leaving him out of the session. As with all modern cars, it was a case of trying to find the electrical issue, and after multiple checks it was discovered that the ECU wasn’t sending a signal to the throttle and new ECU is currently being fitted.

For Charles this was a good opportunity to get some laps in in the car and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands. Getting 18 laps in in the BMW 330i M Sport he was the quickest BMW of the four and finished 8th on the timing board, almost 2/10th of a second ahead of reigning champion Jake Hill.

The LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR team were naturally pleased with the pace shown and we hope that this can be replicated in Aiden’s car for Free Practice 2 at 12.10 today, and we will bring you all of the action later.
