Aiden makes up FIFTEEN places and Charles is the best on the hard tyre!

BTCC Season 2025 – brands hatch indy – race 2

We’re back at Brands Hatch in Kent and the temperature is now 21 degrees but the track temperature had rocketed to 39 degrees. There was no breeze and it was just about perfect. Charles was on the hard tyre and Aiden on the soft tyre. This is blisteringly hot for the drivers sat on the grid, and it won’t get any cooler inside the car during the race.

As usual on the short circuit, the cars went out on 2 warm up laps and it should be noted that Charles will have less boost in this race following his P2 in Race 1. Charles will have 7 laps of boost and Aiden will have 12 laps to play with. Both drivers got a good start when the lights went out and Charles and leader Jake Hill were able to open a small gap on lap 1. Aiden was up for the fight and made up 3 places to 17th. At the end of lap 2, Charles had a half second gap over 3rd place Dan Cammish, but with the Ford Focus and others around him on soft tyres, he was swallowed up on lap 5 as the tyre difference came into play.

Aiden meanwhile was really on it and up to 15th on lap 7 when a safety car was triggered when the two Unlimited Motorsports cars took each other out and into the gravel, with Charles in 5th. On the restart, there was real drama as Dan Cammish had an electrical fault causing him to instantly stop on track as the cars were accelerating away. Mikey Doble and Aiden were unsighted and both hit the back of the Ford Focus. The safety car had to come straight back out and at that point Charles was 43th and Aiden 10th, but is there damage to Aiden’s??

With the race extended to 27 laps, Charles got a blistering restart and was back up to 2nd on lap 22, with Aiden up to 9th after contact with Mikey Doble in the Vauxhall. Behind Charles was a hard charging Adam Morgan on the softs with Ash Sutton just behind him. On Lap 24, Charles dropped to 3rd and on lap 25 he dropped to 6th as the soft tyred cars came through, with Aiden right behind him and then in front with 1 lap to go.

We have to say that is an amazing drive by Aiden to make up FIFTEEN places, but also an immense drive by Charles to take 7th as the highest placed driver on the hard tyre. A really good points haul for the pair of them and we are delighted.

Race 3 is at 5.10 pm with Charles startin 3rd and Aiden 5th, and we will bring you all of the news after that!
