BTCC Season 2025 – BRANDS HATCH INDY – PREVIEW
Hello everyone and welcome to our preview of this weekend’s Brands Hatch round of the Kwik Fit British touring car championship. This is the second event of the season and will host rounds 4-5 and six of the championship.
This weekend sees us racing on the Indy circuit which at 1.2 08 miles is the shortest circuit on the calendar. In addition, the nature of the lap means that Aidan and Charles will be pretty much flat out throughout the laps! With only two left hand corners in the lap this puts an interesting dilemma in the minds of the engineers as the cars may be predominantly set up for right hand turns.
The Indy circuit also has a reputation as a high attrition circuit as there are a number of features which provide overtaking opportunities for both the brave and the foolhardy. In particular, is Paddock Hill, where the cars are flat out on the downhill off camber section, and excursions into the gravel are commonplace.
Both Aiden and Charles come into the weekend with some confidence from the last time out at Donington Park. Aiden will be buoyed by his three top 10 finishes despite having lost the whole of free practise 1 with a faulty ECU in the BMW, whilst Charles was showing promise in every session with a brilliant rookie qualifying, but suffered on race day from being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The team is working towards a good weekend at WSR’s home circuit. Our aim is obviously to score podiums and significant points to see if we can build on our current 4th spot in the Team’s Championship as well as racking up more familiarisation laps in the car for Charles and Aiden. The weather looks set to be fine and dry on Saturday, although there is currently some threat of heavy thundery downpours for Sunday’s race day. That could make things very interesting indeed!
