BTCC Oulton Park – Race 1

BTCC Season 2025 – OULTON PARK – RACE 1

Good afternoon everybody and welcome to race day here at Alton park in the Kwik fit British touring car championship 2025. The early morning rain has cleared and with a moderate breeze it is approximately 10° cooler than yesterday and everybody is looking relieved for that. The track however remains mildly moist on top and will undoubtedly be a challenge for the drivers in the early stages of this the first race of the afternoon, round 13 of the 2025 championship.

Whilst all the engines were revving there had to be a delete to the start as the new Toyota driver Finn Leslie stalled his car on dear sleep at the back of the field requiring a push into the pits. This required the main field to do a second formation lap after which it was all systems go!

Charles starting in 9th had a difficult first lap as he was caught out by an accident involving Stephen Jelley and Sam Osborne which caused him to lose three places down to 12th as the safety car was deployed and no progress could be made. It was not until lap six that Charles was able to regain a place up to 11th where he remained to the end of the race in what was for him a largely uneventful 16 laps.

Things were different for Aiden however, who having started from 18th on the grid had made-up four places to 14th before the safety car was deployed. Once the safety car came in at the end of lap 3, Aden was able to take an additional place up to 13th where he was hugely competitive until lap 9 when an accident involving Nick Hamilton and  Max hall pushed the latter straight into the side of Aiden and he subsequently lost four places back to 16th. Aiden was able to remain in 16th to the end of the race and following all of the stewards inquiries and other events we see that Charles will start race 2 in P11 and Aiden will start in P16, with both hoping to climb further into the points following that difficult first session.

We will bring you all of the action from race 2 as soon as the race has finished, but in the meantime the race can be seen on ITV 4.
