BTCC Season 2025 – THRUXTON – RACE 1

Good morning everyone and welcome back to Thruxton, where the rain has gone and the sun is out, albeit it is rather cold today in a strong and gusty wind. Charles started in P11 and Aiden in P20 and both drivers had eyes on some moves up the order when the lights went out.
On the start, there was chaos! As the cars went into the right hander at Allards, Charles was collected from behind causing him to hit Tom Chilton and then firing him off to the grass on the left where he spun back across the track, narrowly missing the hard charging main pack before coming to rest on the grass on the opposite side of the track!!
Whilst Charles was able to rejoin, the car had a small amount of damage and never got back on par, not helped by a second coming together on lap 16 at the chicane. At the end, Charles came home in 17th position.
Aiden meanwhile, proved what a fabulous race day competitor he is by making up 6 places before a safety car was called for a crash involving Sam Osborne and Max Hall. After the safety car came in, Aiden gained another place on lap 8 and then 2 more places on lap 10.
With 3 laps to go, Aiden came under pressure from Dan Lloyd and eventually succumbed to finish in 15th, although after the race, there was a penalty for Tom Chilton which elevated Aiden to 14th, 6 places higher than his starting position.
As we go into Race 2, Aiden will start in 14th, with Charles starting in 17th and both enthusiastic at the possibilities to make further progress.
Race 2 starts at 2.35 and we will see you then.
