Qualifying – A solid performance in a session where front wheel drive dominated

BTCC Season 2025 – SNETTERTON 300 – QUALIFYING

Good afternoon and here we go for qualifying for Snetterton. The wet weather is holding  off, but there is quite a strong breeze which can easily unsettle a car at this wide open circuit. Both of our cars were out in the 2nd part of the initial qualifying section along with fellow BMW driver Jake Hill.

As we have previously mentioned, these 10 minute sessions are a nightmare as you only get a few flying laps, but this is magnified here at Snetterton as it is one of the longest laps of the season, so the number of fast laps is a maximum of 3. Talk about pressure!

In their initial qualifying session, Aiden and Charles were neck and neck as they fought for that fastest lap, and at the end there was only 1/100th of a second between them. However, that 1/100th of second was enough ton see Charles advance to the second part of qualifying, whilst Aiden just missed out. Interestiongly, al of the top times were front wheel drive cars.

This front wheel drive dominance continued into the 2nd part of qualifying and Charles qualified in 12th the best of the BMW’s. Aidan’s time meanwhile was good enough for 14th, so they will be directly behind each other on the grid.

We would have preferred a few places higher up, but bearing in mind the race day pace that both Charles and Aiden have shown means that we are really up for tomorrow. Perhaps the biggest unknown is the weather, but we’ll deal with that when it happens!
