Silverstone National – Preview

BTCC Season 2025 – SILVERSTONE PREVIEW

Good evening, everybody, and welcome to our preview of this weekend’s 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship visit to the world-famous Silverstone circuit. Located in rural Northamptonshire, Silverstone circuit was built on the site of a Royal Air Force bomber station RAF Silverstone which was operational during the Second World War.

Silverstone hosted motor sport of a type back in September 1947, and in the first known race at the circuit one of the drivers hit a sheep that had wandered on to the racing line. Not surprisingly, in the aftermath of this event the informal race became known as the mutton Grand Prix. It was in 1948 that the Royal Automobile Club took a lease on the airfield and set out the first full racing circuit.

The national circuit is the shortest of Silverstone’s 3 layouts but often provides some of the most exciting racing the venue sees each year. The long Wellington straight leads to the tightening Brooklyn’s corner with breaking duels and overtaking at a premium.

Charles and Aiden come into the weekend with their usual confidence in the pace of the BMW ahead of the final two events off the season. Charles currently sits 2nd in the Jack Sears Trophy only 14 points behind fellow BMW driver Daryl DeLeon.

Charles, who has four Jack Sears Trophy race wins to his name in 2025, has never competed in the BTCC at Silverstone as he is in his rookie season. The Sussex racer, however, was victorious at the circuit last year in the Carrera Cup GB support event.

His LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR team-mate, Moffat, was a winner at Silverstone in 2018 and produced one of the drives of his career the following season as he stormed from 29th on the grid to second place in a wet race.

The Dalkeith racer is just six points away from a top-10 position in the standings and is targeting a strong weekend as he aims to complete the season in his best championship position since 2021.

Coming into the weekend both Charles and Aiden feel they have unfinished business at the circuit. There is no doubt that the team will be working as hard as always to give them the support that they need to display their talents on track. We are more than hopeful of a fantastic weekend for the team, our sponsors, and all of our thousands of supporters. As always race day is live on ITV and qualifying is on ITV online. We will bring you session by session coverage of the entire weekend and for those of you who are lucky enough to be at Silverstone we look forward to seeing you then.
