BTCC Season 2025 – SILVERSTONE NATIONAL – Free Practice 1

Good morning, everybody, and welcome to our coverage of this weekend’s British Touring Car Championship action here at Silverstone.
It was a remarkably dark and grey morning here in Northamptonshire, and there was a little bit of that sentiment in the paddock early, on as the single track roadworks around Towcester were causing issues getting in. Beware if you are joining us tomorrow and give yourself a bit of extra time!
It was the coolest we have started all season, with track temperature at a surprising 16 degrees, which meant that it would potentially be 3 or 4 laps before tyres were warm enough for a fully committed attack on the time sheets!
In the early part of the session, Aiden topped the time sheets, but as with all of these sessions, the quick times are normally done towards the end of the session. Running a series of slight adjustments across both cars, we were finally ready to have some properly timed runs with 6 minutes left on the clock. This gave us the opportunity for 4 quick laps each.
Both cars were amazingly close in performance, with Aiden posting a lap time of 57.050 seconds, whilst Carles was only two 1/100ths of a second slower with a 57.075 lap a\s they pushed each other all the way. This proved good enough for P4 and P5 on the session, only 0.06 seconds behind the fastest car in this morning’s session.
Whilst these are still early times in the weekend, it does give us something to build on in FP2 shortly and then into qualifying later on this afternoon.
