BTCC Season 2025 – BRANDS HATCH INDY – RACE 1
Welcome to a hot and sunny Sunday here at Brands Hatch in Kent. At the start of race 1, the temperature was 20 degrees with the track temperature at 32.5 degrees. There was no breeze and it was just about perfect. Charles was on the soft tyre and Aiden on the hard tyre. Both the weather and the short hard cornering circuit could well cause tyre issues in the 24 lap race!
Off the line, Charles got a great start to stay 2nd and by the end of the first lap, Aiden was up 4 places to 21st. By lap 4, Aiden was up to 20th, with Charles still running clear in 2nd with the fastest lap as well. On lap 5, Charles then set a new lap record for a BTCC car on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit.
Next up on the excitement was an improvement once again to the lap record by Charles on lap 11! At the halfway stage, the boys wewre running in 2nd and 20th with Aiden up 5 places from the start.
As we came into the last 4 laps, there was no change to the order throughout the field as the cars were so evenly balanced, although Aiden was all over the back of Dexter Patterson for 19th.
On the last lap, it weas clear that the soft tyres had held up well and had been faster than the hard tyres leaving a real split in the field between those using it and the hard tyres towards the rear. Indeed the best of the hard tyred cars was back in 10th.
At the line, it was Charles in 2nd for his first BTCC podium and a new Brands Hatch BTCC lap record. That fastest lap gained Charles an extra point and his face lit up when he found out after the race. Aiden had made up 5 places on the hard tyre in an excellent drive.
Race 2 is a couple of hours away, but this time Charles will have to be on the hard tyre and Aiden will probably on the softs. We can’t wait, but it’s huge congratulations to Charles and the team for Race 1. We’ll see you soon!
