BTCC Season 2025 – CROFT – Qualifying
We are back at Croft in bright and hot sunshine for the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship Qualifying session. The air temperature had rocketed into the 20’s and the track temperature was a very hot 38.7 degrees! Certainly this was going to be a test for both drivers and engineers after the earlier cool running.
Both Aiden and Charles were in the 2nd group of the initial qualifying session, where due to length of the circuit and the short 10 minute session, they were only able to get 3 quick laps in, adding pressure to get things spot on right from the start. As ever, only the top 6 from the session would make it through.
In this first session, Charles was P6 and so progressed with a lap time of 1:21.612, whilst Aiden was unlucky to be just 7/100ths of a second slower and miss out.
The second session started in the bright sunshine, and once again, the top 6 would progress. Charles lap of 1:21.164 was a good improvement, but was unfortunately only good enough for 9th.
This means that for Race 1 tomorrow, Charles will start in P9 and Aiden in P16. I cannot remember a single season where Aiden wearing number 16 has been in P16. This is down to the struggles the BMW’s are having with the pace in the car, with Team Owner Dick Bennetts saying “We are still down on straight line speed. We’ve all got more power than last year, but the other cars have leapt ahead”.
Sunday morning is forecast to be wet, but hopefully it will dry up for Race 1. Don’t forget, you can catch all of the action live on ITV 4!
