BTCC Croft – Race 3

BTCC Season 2025 – CROFT – RACE 3

Please may I start this article with an apology. As I write this moments after the race I am still rather angry at what just happened out there on track. The lack of driving standards of others cost the team dear, and that is highly regrettable, to say the least.

For Aiden on pole, he got the dream start. Staying ahead of Ingram into the first corner and down the back straight, Ingram came under attack by Ash Sutton, and with the 2 squabbling, Aiden built a big and potentially race defining lead.

Then came the first incident! Dan Cammish was unlucky to be tagged in his Ford Focus, firing him across the grass with no control and he flew back onto the track T boning Daryl DeLeon and Chris Smiley and causing a safety car. This immediately wiped out Aiden’s lead, and Aiden was further hampered on the restart as the safety car had to negotiate the hairpin stopping Aiden from going early.

Ash Sutton produced a stunning overtake to take the lead before a hard charging Senna Proctor brutally hit Aiden from behind forcing him off across the grass and out of contention. It was an amazing save by Aiden who hung on to rejoin the track without incident and finish 6th.

Charles got a flying start and was up to P3 at the end of lap 1. He then also got tagged at the hairpin, dropping him from P3 to P15, and with the surprising but humorous addition of a traffic cone point first through his radiator grill. There was much humour in the crowd surrounding a “99 cone”! It was a tough ask with the new non-aerodynamic upgrade, but Charles managed to claw back another couple of places to finish 13th, and at the end discovered that he was the Jack Sears Trophy winner for  this round.

So there we have it. Good points for the team, but a genuine tale of “what might have been”. Hmmm.
