BTCC 2025 Knockhill – Free Practice 1

BTCC Season 2025 – KNOCKHILL – FREE PRACTICE 1

Welcome to Knockhill everyone as we start the Scottish weekend of the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship. Certainly a tester for the drivers and engineers alike, and we have been able to remove a bit of weight from the cars for this round in the Championship.

The weather is, as promised, dry, but it is slightly cool and very cloudy with a moderate breeze. The temperature is 17 degrees, with the track temperature only slightly higher at 19 degrees.

This became a much shortened session after an incident left Nicholas Hamilton stranded in the gravel at the hairpin. So serious was the incident, that we lost almost 20 minutes of the session, so when we resumed, there was only 9 ½ minutes left on the clock.

The plan was initially to scrub tyres and bed brakes in, followed by some lengthy runs, but that was taken out by the red flag. Instead, we did the scrubbing in and just putting a few quicker laps in towards the end of the session.

As we always say on Saturday morning, this is really just a set up session, but we are quietly pleased with things at this stage with Aiden in P7 and Charles in P13. Hopefully Free Practice 2 will be incident free, but it is the same for everyone! We’ll bring you Free  Practice 2 just after lunch.
