Silverstone National Race 1

BTCC Season 2025 – SILVERSTONE NATIONAL RACE 1

Good morning and welcome to a beautifully sunny, but cool Sunday here at Silverstone. The overnight gales have cleared, leaving us with a light breeze, but it is definitely autumnal.

Charles started the race in 9th, directly behind Aiden in 8th. The big difference here is that Charles starts on the mediuym tyre, whilst Aiden will start on the preferred soft. This makes complete sense so that the team can see just how the tyres wear.

Both cars made a good getaway, but an immense start from multiple champion Ash Sutton saw himm take Charles at the end of lap 1. On lap 2, Aiden was able to get past Josh Cook for 7th, whilst Charles was still in 10th,

On lap 5, the different strategy’s started to show. Aiden was able to pass Daryl DeLeon for 6th, whilst Charles’ mediums weren’t working well at all and Charles was back in 14th.

Aiden was then able to keep his great pace up to take 5th place, but it was at the cost of a second track limits warning. This caused Aiden an issue as a third warning would result in a 10 second penalty which would be devastating. Charles meanwhile weas able to maintain his pace back in 14th.

On lap 16, Aiden came under sustained pressure from Josh Cook, and fearing that 10 second penalty for track limits let the Toyota driver through and settled for 6th place at the flag and a great points haul. Charles had to settle for 15th, but the medium tyres were now out of the way for him.

We look forward to Race 2 now which will come after a display by the Army’s Red Devil’s Parachute Team at lunchtime. We’ll see you then!
