BTCC Season 2025 – Brands hatch gp Free Practice 1

Good morning everybody and welcome to the final round of this year’s 2025 Kwik fit British touring car championship here at Brands Hatch in Kent where we will be using the long Grand Prix circuit. As we head into this final round, we look to end the year on a high at WSR’s home circuit. The Grand Prix circuit is a very different proposition to the Indy circuit that we used earlier in the year Bing 3 times its length and containing very high speed corners and changes in elevation to test both the cars and the drivers.
This final outing of 2025 sees Dunlop the tyre manufacturer providing all cars with one set of the white wall soft tyres and two sets of the yellow lettered mediums. In addition to these tyres, the teams have some varying compounds that they have retained from earlier in the season which they can choose to use at any point that they wish. This means that tactically teams should be able to use either of the compounds during the all important qualifying sessions.
The first session of the morning for the touring cars, Free Practise one, had hardly got started when it had to be stopped for a red flag. As always in these initial sessions it is a chance for the teams to start to look at different setups I had to all of this afternoon’s qualifying, and for Aiden and Charles it was an opportunity to run different setups and game data.
Aiden suffered some delays during the session and as a result was only able to complete 9 laps which resulted in his best time putting him 18th for the session. Charles however was able to complete 17 laps and his time had him third at the end of the session, directly behind his competition for the Jack sears trophy, Daryl Dylan
We move on to free practise 2 at lunchtime where we will further refine the setups for the Grand Prix circuit and look at what we need to do to maximise our chances in qualifying. We will bring you all the information from free practise 2 just after lunch.
